An opportunity for young designers, including recent graduates, who dream of having their womenswear collection produced. For fashion lovers, besides, the chance of being part of the judging panel that will pick among the participants the lucky (and talented) designer who will see her/his sketches turn into real garments.

Muuse and Vogue Talents introduce a project that will select and help grow a young designer. The Co-protagonists of the initiative will be Vogue.it’s readers, who will be asked to help out Muuse and Vogue Talents with the selection.

Muuse’s readers may vote for their favorite designers: the first 50 will be submitted to the Vogue Talents staff that will choose the 10 best projects.

This is when the readers of Vogue.it will come into play: you will be asked to select the outright winner among the top ten designers who will have her/his collection produced. But not only: the winner will be featured on Vogue.it in the Talents section and the garments will be sold online on Vogue.it.

Am 26. August wird wieder im Berliner Stadtbad Oderbergerstraße für den guten Zweck "geswappt", was das Zeug hält: Skyy Vodka lädt gemeinsam mit DesignerScouts zum Skyy Swap Market ein.

Das Konzept beruht auf dem Austausch von eigenen Kleidern, Accessoires, Designobjekten gegen die von anderen Leuten und Prominenten eingereichten Gegenstände gegen Kleider von Berliner Labels wie Manikó, Von Bardonitz, Moga E Mago, C.Neeon, JULIAANDBEN und vielen mehr. Der komplette Erlös kommt der Berliner Aidshilfe e.V. zu Gute.

We were part of and nominated for the Evoque Fashion Award by Range Rover. At the 21 of May we presented our collection " in between days" after the first edition in Berlin. The second catwalk presentation for the Evoque Style Awards took place at the H1-Club in Hamburg. We came in second after Tanja Kari with her Label "Tadedesign". The 3. place took Jennifer Kong from London.

We say thank you to the team of Range Rover and Garmz for this lovely evening. We wish Tanja all the best with her great collection.

Ab heute startet ein neuer Fashion Wettbewerb, THE EVOQUE FASHION AWARD, an dem wir mit unserem Label MANIKÓ teilnehmen. Das tolle daran ist, dass zunächst keine Jury entscheidet, sondern vorerst nur die IHR.
Jeder Designer stellt eine oder mehrere Kollektionen auf der www.garmz.com Seite online.
Heute kann einen Monat lang für die einzelnen Kollektionen gevotet werden. Die Designer die die meisten Stimmen erhalten, kommen in die nächste Runde.

Das Label Manikó wird von Madlen Lecoutré und Isabelle Mbarga designt, die sich während ihres Studiums an der HTW Berlin kennenlernten. Das Atelier der beiden ist in einer alten Arztpraxis. Doch was hier entsteht, ist alles andere als steril.

Besonders wichtig ist den beiden Jungdesignerinnen Qualität und moderne, aber tragbare Eleganz. Daher sind alle Stücke "Made in Germany": „Die Produktion in Deutschland gewährleistet nicht nur engeren Kontakt und besseren Austausch zum Hersteller. Sie garantiert uns auch einzigartige Qualitätsware mit gutem Gewissen“, so die Designerinnen.

Globe-M: Beschreibt bitte Euer Label in drei Worten!

Isabelle & Madlen: Hochwertig, geradlinig, exklusiv.

Globe-M: Was macht Euer Label aus?

Isabelle & Madlen: Unser Label ist authentisch. Klassische Schnitte werden modern interpretiert. Es ist elegant und feminin dank weicher, anschmiegsamer Stoffe - wie zum Beispiel Seide -, die oft mit Leder kombiniert werden. Unser persönlicher Stil und Geschmack spielt eine wesentliche Rolle und beeinflusst definitiv das Design. Es ist Mode, die uns selbst sehr gut gefällt und die wir auch gern tragen.

Globe-M: Was ist Euer Lieblingsteil aus der aktuellen Kollektion? Warum?

Isabelle & Madlen: Da sind wir uns einig, unser Lieblingsteil aus der aktuellen Winterkollektion 2012 ist eine graufarbene Jacke mit Leder- und Stoffllagen an der Schulterpartie. Das Zusammenspiel zwischen leichten Stoffen und Leder gefällt uns da besonders gut.

Globe-M: Was ist Eure Definition von Schönheit und wie setzt Ihr diese in Eurer Arbeit um?

Isabelle & Madlen: Schönheit bedeutet für jeden etwas anderes, sie liegt also immer im Auge des Betrachters. Wenn wir den Begriff der Schönheit bei Menschen anwenden, kommt sie immer von Innen. Man muss sich in seiner eigenen Haut wohlfühlen, sich selber schön finden. Trifft dies zu, strahlt man das auch aus. Bezieht man Schönheit auf Gegenstände oder auch auf Mode, ist sie einfach da. Man kann sie nicht erzwingen. Nach einem bestimmten Schönheitsideal arbeiten wir nicht. Wir besitzen ein ein ästhetisches Empfinden und auf das vertrauen wir.

Globe-M: In welche kunstgeschichtliche Epoche würdet Ihr Euer Label am ehesten einordnen?

Isabelle & Madlen: Unser Label ist keiner bestimmten Epoche zuzuordnen. Wir holen unsere Inspirationen aus unterschiedlichen Jahrzehnten.

Globe-M: Wie sieht Euer Atelier aus? Nennt drei Gegenstände, die Ihr dort unbedingt braucht!

Isabelle & Madlen: Da unser Atelier eine ehemalige Arztpraxis ist, sind wir jederzeit für Notfälle gewappnet. Ab und zu finden wir dort noch Arztutensilien die sehr hilfreich sein können, besonders wenn man sich mal wieder in die Finger näht. Dinge, auf die wir während der Arbeit nicht verzichten könnten, wären ein Blistex, die Kaffeemaschine, ein Glas Wasser und was Süßes.

Globe-M: Braucht es wirklich noch junge Designer, gibt es nicht schon genug?

Isabelle & Madlen: Definitiv braucht es die, von jungem, frischem Design kann man nie genug kriegen! Und jede Persönlichkeit sucht immer wieder etwas anderes. Kein Designer ähnelt dem anderen. Man kann sie zwar in Kategorien zuordnen aber dennoch findet man überall immer wieder etwas Neues. Jede Generation bringt seine Nachwuchsdesigner hervor. Die einen kommen und andere gehen. So ist der Kreislauf.

Globe-M: Was ist der Sinn von Mode? Warum brauchen die Menschen immer wieder Neues?

Madlen: Weil jeder Mensch in seinem Leben durch viele Phasen geht und man sich immer neu entdecken und erfinden möchte. Und wir brauchen Mode, weil der Mensch sich entwickelt und dabei die Möglichkeit braucht, dies auch anhand von Mode ausdrücken zu können.

Isabelle: Durch Mode unterstreicht jeder Mensch seine eigene Persönlichkeit. Sie verleiht dem Menschen einen bestimmten Stil und dient so als Kommunikationsmittel zur Außenwelt. Wir leben in einer Gesellschaft, die sehr schnelllebig ist und wir Menschen streben einfach stets nach Veränderung und Neuem.

Globe-M: Warum macht Ihr Mode?

Madlen: Ich mache Mode, weil ich es damals meiner Oma versprochen habe. Diese lehrte mir schon in der Kindheit das Nähen und Zeichnen. Diese Tätigkeiten wollte ich in ihrem Gedenken fortführen. Deswegen fing ich früh an, eine Ausbildung zu machen und dann Mode zu studieren.

Isabelle: Ich bin irgendwann an einem Punkt angelangt, an dem etwas anderes als Mode nicht mehr in Frage kam.

Globe-M: Habt Ihr, beziehungsweise Eure Mode, eine Mission?

Isabelle & Madlen: Wir sind gegen Ausbeutung und Hungerlöhne in den Dritte Welt-Ländern. Deshalb produzieren wir unsere Ware nur in Deutschland. Das gewährleistet uns bessere Kontrolle der Ware, engeren Kontakt zum Hersteller und ein gutes Gewissen.

Globe-M: Oder geht es letztendlich nur um „Klamotten“ und Verkaufszahlen?

Madlen: Vielen jungen Mädchen, die Modedesign studieren geht es sicherlich nur um Klamotten. Sie finden das hip und machen sich vorher keine Gedanken, was sie später damit anfangen wollen. Wenn sie dann fertig sind, stehen sie da und wissen nicht weiter. Für mich geht es definitiv nicht nur um „Klamotten“, denn Modedesign ist ein Lebenstraum. Im Endeffekt geht es aber leider früher oder später auch um Verkaufszahlen, denn man will ja mit seinem Lebenstraum auch die Miete bezahlen können.

Isabelle: Ja, ohne Verkäufe der „Klamotten“ würde es natürlich nicht funktionieren.

Globe-M: Vielen Dank!

The design network THE OFFER invites you to participate to their “random & unpredictable” collective performance. It is a p
layful interaction, in which the visitor is invited to try new and selected pieces from the AW 2011/12 collections of inPanik,
Manikó, Friederike Porscha, Ta-ste, Ica Watermelon,Sven Bertil, Tata Christiane and von Bardonitz.It is a proposition to fit
pieces on before they are officially available in shops and to give the oportunity
to preorder them.

How it works:
Every person will receive an invitation card at the entrance for fitting a piece on. Additionally a stylist from the blog KALINKA²
and make up artists will be there for advice. Furthermore the Photographer Christoph Wehrer will shoot pictures from the visitor
in the outfits.

Media on location:
Laura and Joost from Chlorophorm TV will be interviewing guests and designers.

Bei dieser Veranstaltung kann man liebgewonnene und hochwertige Kleidungstücke und Accessoires, aber auch Bücher, Platten und andere Designobjekte tauschen. Der Erlös kommt der Berliner Aidshilfe e.V. zu Gute. Bislang konnte man u.a. Gegenstände von Prominenten und anderen Leuten mit den eigenen tauschen. In diesem Jahr kann man dies aber auch mit Kollektionsteilen von Berliner Labels tun. Deshalb haben sich einige Labels von dem Design Netzwerk “The Offer” dazu entschlossen, sich zu beteiligen. Jeder hat nun die Gelegenheit, ungetragene Schätze aus seinem Kleiderschrank mit anderen zu tauschen und bald kann man so vielleicht ein tolles neues Stück von Tata Christiane, Manikó, 25Pieces, Gabriel&Schwan, Comtesse de La Haye, ICA Watermelon, Helena Koj oder von Bardonitz sein Eigen nennen.Dazu gibt es Skyy-Cocktails und musikalische Untermalung.

Die Veranstalter erklären den Ablauf:
“Eingereicht werden können werden hochwertige und neuwertige Kleider, Accessoires, Designobjekte, Platten und Bücher. Die abgegebenen Tauschgegenstände werden in den SWAP-Spots nach Art und Zustand bewertet und erhalten eine bestimmte Punktzahl. Die Gesamtpunktzahl für die Tauschgegenstände wird auf einem Gutschein gemeinsam mit dem Namen des Swappers eingetragen. Der Gutschein kann am Veranstaltungsabend gegen sogenannte SWAP-Jetons eingetauscht werden, die als Währung für den Abend dienen. Mit den Jetons kann man sich Tauschgegenstände im Gegenwert der erhaltenen Jetons aussuchen und auch Drinks bezahlen. Alle, die im Vorfeld keine Gegenstände abgegeben haben, können Jetons auch am Abend selbst kaufen. Jetons, die nicht verbraucht werden, können gespendet werden. Der Erlös der Veranstaltung kommt der Berliner Aidshilfe e.V. zugute. Einmal getauschte Ware kann nicht zurückgetauscht oder in Geld ausbezahlt werden.”

On the occasion of this July’s Berlin Fashion Week and within the context of an extraordinary performance/exhibition concept, the Berlin-based label collective The Offer presented the collections of its ten designers On July 7th at Black Box Theater. Every designer presented one model, clothed all in white.
The effect thus achieved between the different kinds of white fabrics and materials and the all-black space they are located in, was accentuated by an individual and original light concept as well as a song especially composed for the event.
